William Adams,KY, Shelby County Deeds

Book H, P. 318, 12 Oct 1807

Be it known to all whom the same may concern that I WILLIAM ADAMS of the County of Shelby & State of Kentucky have this day convenated and agree and by these presents do convenant and agree to emancipate the following Negroes (viz) CHARLES, SARAH, MARYAN, REUBEN and ELIZA at the following ages:

  • CHARLES on the 1st of Jany 1811
  • SARAH on the 1st of Jany 1809
  • MARYAN on the 1st Jany 1823
  • REUBEN on the 1st Jany 1826
  • ELIZA on the 1st Jany 1828
  • they all being about 21 years of age at the time of their freedom which said Negroes I do hereby agree shall be entitled to their freedom as if they had been free born at the ages aforesaid in _______ where of the said WILLIAM ADAMS has here unto set his hand and affixed his seal the 12th day of October 1807

    This certificate of emancipation was this day in court acknowledged ______ by the within named WILLIAM ADAMS to be his act and deed whereupon the same was to be recorded
