Reference Book~Who Was Who Among The Southern Indi

The following book entiltled "Who Was Who Among The Southern Indians 1698-1907 A Genealogical Biographical Notebook" by Don Martini (FINAL EDITION) Price $25.00 inc.P/H
The book is 750 page spiral bound including maps.

I have had the good fortune to receive copies of an earlier version of the book and found it quite useful in detemining who among the so called "Five Civilized Tribes" owned slaves where there property was deeded and other bits of information that is useful for the researcher of the Five Tribes. This is my "biased" opinion and you would do well to get a copy for your reference library. The following is excerpted from the announcement I received the other day concerning the sale of this material.

This completely revised edition of SOUTHEASTERN INDIAN NOTEBOOK (1993) is fully annotated and contains much new information including:

*all European names from the 1831 Choctaw Armstrong Roll with location of hme and description of family members.

*deed records for Chickasaw land sales in northeastern Mississippi and northwestern Alabama

*Chickasaw Reserve Choctaw Reserve Chickasaw Emigration and Choctaw Emigration records from the National Archives

*Chickasaw and Choctaw Applications for Enrollment before the Dawes Commission 1897-1906

*information from the 1878 1890 and 1896 Chickasaw censuses and payrolls

*much new information on Chickasaw Choctaw Cherokee Creek and Seminole citizens and non-citizen residents both before and after emigration

*hundreds of new entries thousands of new facts.

*maps and bibliography

This is my final effort to place in one book as much genealogicl information as possible on the thousands of people whose notable deeds were recorded in the east and in the Indian Territory. Many new families particularly Choctaw and Chickasaw are included and the Cherokee and Creek entries are expanded. Those covered include Indians agents missionaries settlers enemies and others. In addition to hundreds of books and articles the information comes from numerous census records: the 1835 1848 1851 1852 1867 1880 1883 and 1895 Cherokee; the 1818 1837 1839 1847 1848 1890 and 1896 Chickasaw; the 1831 and 1855 Choctaw; the 1832 1857 1867 and the 1882 Creek. Dawes Enrollment Cards were also consulted.

A special thanks to those who responded to my notice last summer and sent along information on their families. That information has been included in this volume.

Order now! As usual a limited number will be printed. The books should be shipped within 14 days of your order.
