Black Indians of the South

Does the Freedman definition include those descendants of Black Indian ancestry before removal to Oklahoma? In any case I dont know any thing about Freedman stuff and neither can I find any resources for Black Indian genealogy of those who remained in the South.
Paternal Grandfather Clarence HAWKINS Black and Cherokee did not marry but had 2 children with my Grandmother Vera MOORE born about 1920 in GA. Clarence died in 1946 the year my father was born in and is buried in Henry County GA. Looking for his parents as well as the parents of my Grandmother. She died in the 80's in GA.
Thanks
