C.R. Crusoe ( Robinson Crusoe)
This may be family myth but I'd appreciate any information concerning this matter. My great, great, great, great grandmother was a slave in Columbus Mississippi possibly in the 1850s and 1860s. She was purchased by a man called Robinson Crusoe who may have once been a slave himself. He may have been Native American or Asian I'm not sure I can only go on family folklore I was told that he was an Indian but not of this country. In the 1850 slave schedules they list a C.R. Crusoe in the Columbus, Lowndes county area; this is the area of Mississippi my family appears to originate from. He also appeared on the 1860 slave schedules as C.R. Crusoe. I am told that he had two families: one with my greatx4 grandmother and one with a Native American woman. I'm not sure if he maintained both families at the same time or not.
