In researching the 1860 Slave Federal Census Cherokee Nation Indian Territory I found the slave owner John T. Adair of the Going Snake District in the Cherokee Nation owning a 7-year old Black female slave; page 22, sheet 420B, line 29 and her 25-year old mother; page 21, sheet 420B, line 19. The 7-year old slave Mary Thompson is my great-great grandmother. The 25-year old slave Susie Thompson is my great-great-great grandmother. Mary was born in 1853, married Alexander Nivens in 1869 and gave birth to my great grandmother Josephine Nivens in 1872. All are listed on the Dawes Final Rolls.
In the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians of Oklahoma Council a Susan Adair is listed as an officer of the Illinois District. I would like to contact Susan Adair to find out if she is a descendent of John T. Adair. Can anyone give me any help on how to contact Susan Adair?
