Re: Looking Info on Bullard in Texas
In Response To: Re: Looking Info on Bullard in Texas ()
Hello ma’am. Good to read from you. Are you located in the Wash-Metro area? If you are, I would like to meet you one day. I travel there on business often. Arthur Bullard died at the VA Hospital in Houston. I called the VA and they couldn't give me any information other than "call the VA in Missouri”. I’m not certain if he returned to Wharton or to Brazoria County after the war. With the information that Preston posted, I will call Texas to see if any of the people are still in Texas.
I have Willie Mae’s death certificate. Her mother was Julia Ford. Her father was Will Pace, but I don’t think Julia and Will were married. Will Pace was said to be American Indian; unfortunately, I don’t know any more than that. I was told that Julia Ford’s grandmother may have been one of the Ford ladies who told her story in the Slave Narrative (either Sarah Ford or Ellen Ford). I don’t know which one yet. I was told that the lady’s mother was full-blood. Her mother was captured in Virginia, taken to Kentucky, to Mississippi and then on to Texas (I think Eagle Pass, Texas). She and her daughter were sold to someone named Stueky or Stucky who treated her like an animal. I need to find the narratives. I have to try and glue some of the names together.
Thanks again for your help. JRaven
