Re: Does Blood Really Matter?
In Response To: Re: Does Blood Really Matter? ()

Hi Allen. Just wanting to mention to you that in order to be a descendant of an ancestor on the Dawes rolls, YOUR parents, (mother's or father's) birth certificate should have your grandparents names on it.

Your grandparents/great grandparents names should have a roll number to identify them on the Dawes rolls (freedmen or by blood).

Also, starting with your great aunt, Sarah Walton, you could go forward to find your connection. Sarah had a 1/4 blood quantum and her children (because of the father being a non citizen) had a 1/8 blood quantum.

Hope this helps!!
