I agree with you on the value of old newspapers and documenting the issues facing the Freedmen. One of the programs that I have used has been the black newspapers online such as the Chicago Defender that had a number of articles about Oklahoma Freedmen. Much of the information about the Creek Freedmen, such as Sarah Rector came via the Defender.
I know that Terry has used a number of articles from Oklahoma newspapers documenting the events pertaining to Choctaw & Chickasaw enrollment periods.
