Even further Norma, did the Freedmen even vote in that election? People act like citizenship in the nation for freedmen was thrown out as if they were registering in droves before then. Before 1979 prior tactics were used to ensure what was became formal after the ammendment-no freedmen citizenship. Reason I say this is because I have heard numerous stories of freedmen who went to register before then and were told all kinds of things to disuade them from pursuing citizenship. Majority rules has been the name of the game so the only thing it seems like is the majority voting for the same thing. Much respect to those responsible for calling the nation to have a constitution convention but in my opinion as long as people care more about BENEFITS than heritage the vote will be the same.
