thanks for sharing Keith Lingenfelter's work (posted here on follow-up thread). I followed the instructions, and read both "Married" and "unmarried" contents. The research shows a tremendous amount of work. I like the format; brief and tidy information. I was surprised to see Chinese names included; makes sense though, given the fact of the Gold Rush, railroad building, and minerals explorations in northern CA.
My curiosity is raised about Martha Jane Powers Logan*. Was she considered a woman of color (her father Peter Powers, a former MO slave) who married (?) Pleasant Dixon Logan p.4 (should we assume he wasn't "colored")? I'm not sure you can answer this---just thinking out loud. (*I returned to the page that I saw Martha Jane's name to verify something but cannot find her now..so many Logans....)
Unfortunately, the Logans I seek information about were somewhere in MS. Leave no stone unturned. Thanks again.
