You may perhaps look at the Bureau of LAnd Management records when they open them again to see when the white Vaughns bought the land the gov't had forced the indians aout of. That would give you a date, and possibly info on where the VAUGHN family was from. Earlier wills within the family MAY give information, but you would have to be very lucky to find them.

May be records of slave sales etc in their state of origin
