Where to go now??

I was wondering if someone could give me a little guidence? I have been doing research for about 4-5 months now and have found and made contact with one of the descendants of the Owner of my ggg grandfathers Green VAUGHN from Columbus, MS.. It was through him and his record copies that I was able to find Green. Anyway, now I know where and when Green was born and who in the family he was passed down to and when. Now I am on a search for his parents. I think that they are on the will of James VAUGHN along with green, but it does not say wich ones they are. What is the best way to go about this? Was there an 1840 Lowndes Co., MS. slave schedule? Green was born in 1840 in Pickens Co, MS. on the farm of JAMES VAUGHN, but when James died in 1843 Green was willed to Elizabeth VAUGHN RAMSEY. BUT, On John VAUGHN'S will (James's Son and Elizabeth's half brother)1862-63 Green VAUGHN is found again. Elizabeth is still alive at this time, so I don't know how John got Green. What records should I look for on that?

John then passes Green to his daughter Mary VAUGHN McCown who lived in Wiston, Co., MS. and was married to William McCown from KY. Anyway, William died in 1859, before her father, so she got Green after her husband died. At the death of her husband the estate was only worth $150.00. She was willed Green in 1862-63. But, when I look at the receipt it looks like she soled him to her uncle G.W. VAUGHN. If someone could tell me what is means please, I would be very thankful.

G.W VAUGHN recieved one negro boy Green 1200.00
and one negro girl Amanda 1300.00
amount bought at sale 93.73
Cash 606.00

Polly X McCown

G.W.VAUGHN was John VAUGHN's Brother and Admin. of his estate. Polly (Elizabeth) could not read or Write, so she sighn with an X.

Last thing is the list of slaves from the estate of John VAUGHN Lowndes Co. MS., 1862. and James VAUGHN Slave deed to John VAUGHN, Pickens, Co., AL. 1834.
