Elliott, Sr. built the house and he was a friend of Henry Clay. It was Elliott, Sr.'s daughter-in-law, Anna, that purchased blankets for $4 each for the slaves. Anna was from a big family that owned over twelve plantations in LA and MS area. She, personally, owned over three plantations inherited from her family as well as two other husbands; Bell and Ruffin.
