Hello,
In doing genealogical research on my ancestors, I noted that my gr. gr. (etc.) grandparents lived next to Henry Willis and his wife Susan in the 1850 Greenwich Connecticut Census. Both Henry and his wife and listed as Black on the census. This census lists all free inhabitants of Greenwich.
By my estimation, Henry Willis was born in abt. 1765 and the census notes that he was born in NY; Susan is noted as born in CT.
I don't know if anyone using this forum is researching Henry Willis. If so, I am happy to supply you with this mention on the census. Because of his age, there is no occupation listed.
Since Ancestry.com is a subscription service, I cannot link to the image. However, please feel free to email me and I will send you a jpg of the page.
Sincerely,
Bridget Carroll
