I had to laugh because others see my struggle with this line. The "JR" was the nickname of their oldest son who died very young...probably in 1914, his birth name was Rufus. Mary was not known to tell her true age, according to my granny she tried to make everyone believe that her husband was 15-20 yrs older. She called his "Mr". Her marriage to Alonzo was not her first marriage, she also had 2 children when they married.
