MADURO, Caroline Amalie, born abt. 1855, USVI?Monday, 10 April 2006, at 5:00 a.m.

Searching for info on my great-grandmother Caroline Amalie MADURO, born 27 July 1853 (1858?), place unknown, of African descent. Was living on St.Thomas or St. Croix, then the Danish West Indies, now US Virgin Islands, at least 1880-1900. ?On 12 June 1897 in the Lutheran Church, Christiansted, St. Croix, she married my great-grandfather, Vilhelm Bartholin Tuxen, born 5 June 1836 in Copenhagen, who at that time was registered as an innkeeper, Lutheran. ?She left the islands in 1899-1900 for Copenhagen, where she died in 1902.
I am completely stuck, so any information on my great-grandmother, or ideas of where to look/ask are welcome.
