Re: Afraid to continue research - need advice
In Response To: Afraid to continue research - need advice ()
Hi Barbara, When my husband was 35 - his mom told him that the man he thought and knew was his dad - wasn't. And she wouldn't tell him anything about his birth father - other than that they were never married, and he was dying. My husband was very angry for many years - and he finally found out the name of his dad, after his mom had passed as well. I spent several years researching his father, and found his father had two other families. When my husband was fifty - he got the chance to meet two sisters, and a brother from those other families - who are now "family". He also now knows who his paternal grandparents were. His sisters had been looking for him too - they knew they had a brother somewhere. I can't say that the mothers of the new sibs are excited about it - but so what? He now has 3 more sibs. More importantly - he knows who his ancestors are. For now - you can "jump over the living" and pursue your search for your ancestors.
Good luck, and let us know where you are stuck - we'll all help you. Denise
