Thanks for your ideas. The only record mentioned that I have not checked is 'cohabitation'. I did on site research in Monroe Co. and came to the same conclusion that you have stated. Got copies of everything I could find. I was not told about the location of the 1860 and 1850 records housed in the Chancery Court House Basement until the Day I left. I will always wonder what did I miss by not knowing this. There is no genealogy society in the city. I talked to the person who had been the president and she said they disbanded. I could tell she was up in age. She did give me what she could but none of it was helpful. I haven't checked the COX surname. That is an idea since one of the ancestor's did carry that name. You are right there are a lot of "DOC' names. When I got copy of marriage records, it is hard to figure out who is who because they are so close in age and live in the same community.
