I'm trying to prove or disprove my connection to the CLEMONS families listed on this page

I tried to trace them forward in the census records - no luck. My next step was to try to find one of the other families on the page in a later Census - usually this works in case the surname spellings was off, or the city/county line changed, etc. In this case, I have not found any of these families. I could use the help of another pair of eyes to make sure I have not missed something. If I haven't missed something, more brain power/experience would be appreciated to help me figure out why none of these people can be found. Help.
