Re: Mallory - Fort Bend, Texas
In Response To: Re: Mallory - Fort Bend, Texas ()
Hi Lyndam. Here's what I have:
I have the marriage information for the Mallory's except for Harriett and Robert Mallory. James is listed the the Fort Bend Marriage Index as Jim. He married twice.
Was Harriett the wife of Robert Mallory? YES.
2. TX Death Index
A Robert Mallory was listed in the death index for Dallas county, TX (1922). Could this be your Robert? Where was he in 1920? I hit a brick wall with my gggGrandmother, Harriett, and her husband, Robert Mallory, after 1880. I can't find either of them.
What information did you find in Dallas County on Robert Mallory? George, b. 1873, and Millie had a son they named Robert (Mallory) in 1899. How old was the Robert you found in Dallas Co.?
Tell me more, if possible. What 'specific' blocks do you have with these family members? Where have you found them? When were they in Fort Bend county? Where were they in 1870?, 1880?, 1900?, 1910? (etc.)
In 1870 the Mallory family consisted of Harriett, b. 1835 in AL, and her children, with the Sherman surname, in Richmon. The Sherman children were Emeline b. 1852, Thomas, b. 1854, James b.1856, Amanda b. 1858, Anne b. 1860, and Caroline, my ggGrandmother, b. 1862. I'm fairly confident that the father of the Sherman children was Col. Sydney Sherman. So far, to substantiate this idea, I received 1 death certificate, Amanda Sherman-Gannaway. Unfortunatley, the informant did not provide any information on Amanda's parents.
I requested the death certificates from Austin on Caroline Sherman-Williams-Short, she's listed as Caroline Shoot on the Texas Death Index. She died on Oct. 26, 1910 in Houston. I'm also awaiting the death certificate for Anne Sherman-Allen-Fields, who died in Houston in 1938. I check the mail everyday for their certificates. I'm hoping that someone would have provided information on Harriett's maiden name and provided the Father's name.
I think that Harriett and Robert were married around 1869-70 as their first child, James (Jim), was born in 1871. George was born in 1873, and Jane in 1876, I think from memory.
I have 2 land contracts for Robert and Harriett with the Pettus family in 1871 and 1873, and they're listed on the 1880 census but I've hit a brick wall at this point.
Their boys George and James, along with Harriett's sherman children remained in Richmond or moved to Waeler and/or Houston over the bext 50 years, based on the census'.
Also, I know that Harriett and her children were owned by Joseph Kuykendall and I hope to learn that that is the name given as her maiden name on any death records I can locate for her children.
I suspect that Malinda Alexander was Harriett's sister.
