I can't tell from your research whether you are searching for free blacks or blacks that were enslaved. On the chance you are searching your black ancestors who were free, there is a Charles Derickson (note the spelling) who was between 24-36 with 2 people in his household, living on Sullivan St. in NY City, New York on the 1830 census. Also, on the 1830 were 3 free black males living in Queens, NY in separate households headed by William, Marvin and Gambo Derrick. I mention them because they are living not far from a free black male named Jacob Alsop who was between 24-36 yrs with 6 people in his household, in Oyster Bay Dist. of Queens, NY.
