Re: Brick Wall Grandmother
Since I live in Shreveport, I couldn't resist doing a little digging...
If you go to:
www.caddoclerk.com - they have online marriage indexes from 1920 onward.
On October 8, 1931, Delilah Coleman married Joseph Clark.
Then in the 1940 census, there is a woman named Delia Coleman, who is divorced (and maybe went back to her maiden name?), living in Shreveport. It mentions that she has "daughters" Clotelia Coleman and Eloise Coleman, ages 14 and 11 respectively, but since this Clotelia Coleman is the exact same age as Delilah's sister Clotel Coleman from the 1930 census, I believe it I possible that the enumerator made an error and that these could be her sisters instead of her daughters. Delia has 2 additional children in this household - their surname is indexed as "Clocks" but, when looking at the image, it could definitely be "Clarks." Josephine, age 6, and Joe Jr., age 4. Does this sound like it could be the right family?
Do you know when and where Delilah died? (If Shreveport, I might be able to help more...)
