Thank you for the information. I did find Sam and he is my great-great-grandfather's brother. I found there father and mother. I am a little confused because it says Sam was married to Marinda but he would have only been about 13. But he is definitely my relative. I have tried to look for the Will of William Overton Winston or his brother but have had no luck finding Alick, Aleck, or Alex and ELvira or Elvina. I think Alick was born in Va. So I am still searching. It is hard because the three white brothers who came to VA all have slaves who have the same names and it is hard to weed out those who are not directly related to one of Alick's sons. I will try to see what the record is at the church. I found that one of my relatives married a "Henderson" and now I am married to a Henderson and he is from Memphis. How ironic. My husband knows all about the history of the Beale st. church and he is a pastor but Morris Henderson is not one of his relatives. Don't know if Sally Henderson who married one of my relatives is related or not.
