Re: Tillman Family-Getting Started
In Response To: Tillman Family-Getting Started ()
Need to go ONE STEP at a time. Otherwise we locate 6 names and have no idea which Mabel Hinson, for instance, is correct.
So you dsaid we're starting from James Richard Tillman laurel hill, NC in 1954 (what county is that???)
Then this is very confusing:
His Mother eunice mcduffie (was his mother born Mcduffie? Married to a Mcduffie? Where did Mcduffie come from if Grandmother was a Hinson, and grandfather's were Tillmann & Spencer?)
Grandmaother was mabell hinson??? (was Mabel married to Tillman or Spencer or neither?)
Fathers or grandfathers were john tillman and john spencer
(Since Tillman & Spencer are both quite common names -- there were 28 John Tilmanns in NC in 1930, and 67 John Spencers -- we need a little more to go on to choose the right one and were they even alive in 1930- how old, about?)
Forget Slave records until we can get back to 1930-1920-1910 -- eventually we might get there, but we have to go one step at a time.
Have you obtained death records/certificates for any of these? That would be a good place to start. Then we would have dates etc to work with.
