Many of you know the history of Robert Smalls of Beufort, S.C., how he had been a slave, he and his mother, on the McKee/McKay Plantation. He during the Civil War went behind enemy lines and commandeered a ship.
To make this part of the story real short, there is a need to search for the descendants of Robert Smalls. Most every year I notice there is some type of reunion that goes out for the descendents. I need to find those descendents now for purpose of a family tree. Not long ago back in 1999 one of the descendants, Beulah Rider Salley died. As of now I am unable to reach anyone connected.
