Re: "throw away babies"
In Response To: "throw away babies" ()
A quite frequent occurance - though these children were not always the product of inter-ethnic relationships. In some cases, these children are listed as the child of the grandparents in census. My great grandmother has a 5 year old child listed with her in 1910(she's 64) that is not her son - but is actually the son of her son - we have no idea who the mother was, though my aunt says the mother didn't want to raise him. So he becomes the "brother" of his own father, in records.
The wonderful thing is that families did raise "outside children" - a term also used.
