Re: Robertson & Baxter Families of MD
In Response To: Re: Robertson & Baxter Families of MD ()
Hi Dawn - Many thanks for your email.. I only have the name of Irving/Irvine Robertson and Eleanor Baxter as his parents and I only knew that they came from Maryland. I did find a Mr Robertson who married abt 1811 to Eleanor ? in Somerset Co. He had a huge family and the first born was Thomas.
I am not even sure if it is my family.
- Mr Robertson was born in Somerset CO - Abt 1782 and he died in 1832 or 1834. His wife was born in 1786 also of Somerset CO.
- Thomas Roberton - 1812
My Ancestor and their son was born Francis /Frank Robinson Robertson in 1831 Maryland USA. The family stories suggests that they may have had some African American family association/genealogy. I have never been certain of this fact. There were Baxters and Robertsons in Maryland of both races...
I feel that my Frank Robertson was a seaman on board the WHirlwind ship which sailed from New York in 1855. Frank RObinson as they spelt it was a seaman who apparently was lost overboard. It is ironic that he came to the victorian goldfields and is recorded on the 1856 electoral roll. Could this be him.
I am really sorry for not knowing more about them. The Maryland Genealogical Society did extensive research for me years ago and were unable to assist with finding this family. I have exhausted quite a few avenues I am afraid. I am really appreciative of your help. I thank you so much. Best Wishes and if you find anything please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Cheers Daniel.
