the etymology of the nuh word i was taught can be traced back to an exalted meaning and recently i saw this sis and bro, on bet i think, breaking it down in detail of it's exalted meaning; royalty or something of that nature, but european etymology stops at the meaning of niger
the problem come in with the caucasion definition of the word, i guess out of ignorance and forceful coerzion of slavery we called ourselves this nuh word, progressively we adopted that meaning into a classification of a curse word, usually used in anger to insult and many times caused fights when black folx used it, today,
as vnyormoi says, rap music has served to minimize the western/european meaning of the word
