From Shaka Barak, President of the Marcus Garvey Institute posted the Henrietta Vinton Davis FB page the following history note:

"Wednesday July 31, 2013 is the 95th Anniversary of the Founding of the African Communities League, the Stock Corporation established under the Business Corporation Laws of the state of New, York. As the economic arm of the Universal Negro Improvement Association, with nine (9) directors, and the Honorable Marcus Mosiah Garvey as its President, the African Communities League in brief, had as its purpose;
1. To establish a chain of grocery stores
2. To establishing the packaging of all products
3. To establish restaurants
4. To establish cleaners and laundries
5. The publication of books, magazines, newspapers, stationary and music
6. To manufacture clothing and shoes
7. To manufacture stoves, furnaces, and electrical appliances
8. To make and enter into contracts
9. To buy and sale real estate and land
10. To build houses, stores, warehouses and factories
11. To borrow and loan money on real estate
12. To apply for trade-marks, patents, inventions, & licenses
13. To import and export, distribute and deal
14. To conduct and transact business in every country"
