I'm reminded of my great grandmother's youngest brother Malvin "Bud" Walker (1890-1988) we would listen to him tell stories and he would end his phrase with with this statement, "I hope I'm not misrepresentin' the truth but I tell you like it was told to me....and I rememembered some of those things that happened."

Thanks to Uncle Bud, this particular line is documented back to the colonial period. An interesting thing is that uncle Malvin's oral histories coalesced with those of his first cousin's that grew up in Louisiana--Malvin grew up in Arkansas; supporting the oral histories with the primary documents.

In short, I can't misrepresent the truth. Uncle Bud was also a "cool" brother.
