I copied a thread message in 2002 "Blacks with a Dot on the Ear" I was interested because my son has a dot as well as my Grand Mother. Last year I had my mtDMA and found it was shared by ancestry with the Fulani people of Nigeria.
The posting in 2002 was from Dr. Adrian Prentice Hull, Cal State University Monterey. The posting was dated March 18, 2002, and went as follow. Looking for any other African Americans born with a dot on either or both ear(s) at the upper part of the ear. This dot looks exactly like an ear piercing but it does not go all the way through.
In Senegal this rare birthmark is found on the Wolof and Fula people of Senegal River Vally, especially around a town called Dagana. In Siera Leone it is call "The Godmark"
