More evidence that we often get off on the wrong foot in our research, in everything from tracking a surname too far down a dead end, to assuming because of oral history that an ancestor w/ black shiny hair and high cheekbones was an indigenous American, when in fact they may have been the product of a Black-white coupling, acknowedged or not. The recent three-part Gates "A-A Lives" series on PBS, and the coverup of Strom Thurmond having a daughter Essie, demonstrate that there are genealogical equation factors unknown to us.
