Re: Publishing THE BOOK
In Response To: Publishing THE BOOK ()
I started self publishing about 7 years ago. With careful planning (budget), I was able to produce three runs on a book documenting my maternal side and two runs on a book documenting my paternal side. I sold the books at family reunions. From there I recieved request for books via mail and phone.
The books were a basic coil bind, printed at a local printing company. I didn't get rich but once the printing expenses were paid, I re-invested into my researcd projects.
Now I'm working on another printing. This time I'm using a local binding/printing company. It's more expensive but all the profit will be mine.
There are so many pricing programs for self publishing (pay 1/3 up front; and pay the rest throughout the production/printing of your book-final payment due before books are delivered to you).
There are options, try to find sponsors (family members). I was fortunate to have sponsors on my second book.
Remember your work can be an essay of just under 20 pages or a monograph of 200 pages. Explore all of your options.
