Thanks to Thames Valley University (UK) for its fascinating presentation of Mary Seacole. For those of you researching Jamaican ancestry, you’ll be more than pleased to read about her life and her writings. Her service in the Crimean War will pique the interest of military historians too.

The University of Pennsylvania offers her autobiography published in 1857.

Yes, her writing may seem antiquated, however writers should read the words from all generations to fine tune their work. Mary Seacole's spirit and experience as a determined black woman is a compelling read.
