With Opium5’s famous authors issue, you (our writers) become the magazine’s
celebrities. To intensify the spotlight, we’re launching an all-new contest
to
both compliment and undercut the memoirization of the literary world. We
hereby announce Opium Magazine’s 500-Word Memoir Contest, judged by Daniel
Handler.
The Deadline: July 11, 2007.
The Cost: $10 for a single entry; $17.50 for two

The Judge: Daniel Handler, author of the novels The Basic Eight, Watch Your
Mouth and Adverbs. He’s the master creator of Lemony Snicket, a sequence of
novels for children collectively entitled A Series of Unfortunate Events.

The Odds: Unknowable until all entries are in, but we did publish SEVEN
stories from our most recent contest.
