ABORIGINES: BLACK PEOPLE OF ‘DOWN UNDER’

Americans have seemingly always held an air of curiosity about the dark people of Australia known as Aborigines for more than three centuries. Curiosity was raised even further when so much was made of Australian Cathy Freeman who won an Olympic gold medal in the 2000 Games in Sydney. Freeman is of Aboriginal heritage.
However, 200 years of Aboriginal suffering at the hands of colonists and their descendants has gone largely unnoticed around the world.
