Re:Black and Native Relations

Dear Allen and Readers,
Thanks for your note re the Shubert encounter on the Pine Ridge Reservation. My apologies, if you were given the impression that I was appropriating someone else's materials. I try very hard not doing that and almost always respect others and their work. Also, you will note that I did put in quotes text that was direct from his paper- Sonjack wrote: he tells of an encounter with a Native American(Quote from Shubert) " At the base of the hill on which sits Wounded Knee cemetery , a Sioux woman stopped her car and asked my journalist friend, who was walking with his wife, what he was doing at Wounded Knee. When he said a little proudly, that he was on a Buffalo Soldiers tour. She replied 'Buffalo Soldiers and the white man killed my people. My ancestors are up there. I dont appreciate you being here .' (Shubert's internal quote of the Sioux woman) The Shubert quote ended with the sentence that says ''...with a new appreciation of the strangeness of the past.(") By mistake I neglected to put the end of quote for Shubert. I hope this clears up any misunderstanding.
