With you at the helm of this new and exciting forum, all of us will learn about the history of African Americans and their active role in shaping the West.

My knowledge of the American West is sketchy at best. I found a fascinating on line exhibiton presented by the University of Texas at Austin. The photographs of 19th century life, maps, digitized documents, papers and various images create a rich introduction to Texas and the Western Frontier.
