Suprise, Suprise! The series continued with the introduction of a black family in 1837 in a wagon train on its way to California. The black family was left behind due to the mother contracting a viral disease and dying, thereby quarantining them from the rest of the train. One of the young children of the black family died earlier from a stampede of cattle during a thunderstorm. Can more be in store for the African American presence in the series.
