() I am interested in the African American communities that you are finding in Pennsylvania. I am working on a National Register nomination for a community called Weeksville, set up in the 1830s, that is now part of Brooklyn. It was established by African American land speculators, who sold land directly to other African Americans from all over the east coast. By 1855, it had more than 500 residents and was really a small city. I am wondering whether people have other examples of such large communities being deliberately established on this scale. Thanks for your help.
