Renee, thank you for using "and" when saying you're "not a scholar" rather than sheepishly dismissing your own observations with "but". Scholars - those having research-based expertise in particular fields - are well-equipped to compare aspects of the "Code" story to other data on the URR, escape, and quilt history, and to point out that in every respect the "Code" comes up short. But you don't need an advanced degree to see the "Code" story's serious *logical* flaws, one of which you've noted. All that takes is good critical thinking skills.
