An Alternative Way to Search for Ancestors?
In Response To: An Alternative Way to Search for Ancestors ()
Ditto, what Vicky said. Seriously, it's great that you were able to make that connection between your ancestors by using their first names.
If memory serves me well, the fields in the search window used to be different on Ancestry. I do not particularly care for the search capabilities right now, but what can one do? Your suggestion of requesting Ancestry to incorporate this cluster-type search that you outlined is a great one. I will voice my support for it today by emailing Ancestry's help desk since I have a paid subscription with them.
A cousin and I brainstormed not too long ago and one of the possibilities we entertained it that my GF (her GGF) George Walker may not have had the same surname as his mother, and maybe that's why I cannot locate him/them in 1870. We are not as fortunate as you are because we don't know her given name, just that she was born in VA.
Thanks for the suggestion, Eric.
