Here is the last chapter in this sad saga. After I restored some of the information I had lost, my PAF program prompted me to backup the data files [which it does in a zip file]. I did so. Today, I was examining the program and realized that it contains a 'Restore' feature that I could have used. Now, how is that for irony?

Of course, when I used the feature today, it simply restored me to my latest backup! How is that for irony? I must become more savvy with this technology thingy.

I am still trying to determine a way to retrieve my lost files. Thanks to everybody for the suggestions. It helped to know there is somebody out there listening.
