Re: Family Tree Building
In Response To: Family Tree Building ()
Secondly, for those who use Family Tree Maker, I am interested in how useful this software is and whether or not there are things that could be fine-tuned in order to make it more valuable to African Americans.
Not sure I understand what you're asking about Family Tree Maker (FTM). but here is a response anyway/anyhow.
I have used the FTM package since their version 2 some long years ago. I have the most recent version FTM 2009, but still use the 2006/v16 because it has some features I like that were not incorporated in FTM 2009. I say this to ask.. what version(s) of FTM are you addressing?
Also, are you asking about the other "products" associated with FTM, the CD-ROM, Deluxe package, user support, message boards and/or the Ancestry interface.
Google hits on Family Tree Maker
I can only speak to the "basic" genealogy database management features of FTM and I don't know how those features can be made more valuable specifically to the AA user. From the early days FTM has added to their Fact List Manumissions and FPOC Registrations, but they also made the change which allows one to add Facts/Events to the "canned list" which may be more ethnic related.
Hope this response helps in some way.
