Sorry for the delay. Podcasting is SOOO incredibly easy. There's a neat application (costs about $35) called ProfCast that allows you to EASILY merge a Powerpoint (or Keynote for we Mac users) presentation with live voice and upload it to the web as a podcast. I demonstrated this at the Jamboree in Burbank a few months ago (Southern California Genealogical Society's yearly event). Affordable, easy to use, no reason why all societies aren't creating and posting podcasts for their members.

And remember, you do NOT need an iPod to view a podcast. Podcasts can be viewed, for free, on iTunes, which runs on any Mac or PC (free download from Appe.com).
