[SC] Plantation Rice Hope

Dr. Evans History

This was from my cousin, LaVerne. Virgie was our oldest first cousin's
widow. Her father was a physician in the Moncks Corner, SC area.
There is a site to be clicked to get the name of slaves on the
plantation, Rice Hope.

I was attempting to find some information about Virgie's father on line
as he is named in "Yellow Swamp and Other Places" by Mrs. Mamie Fields
(which I can't put my hands on at the moment) as having supported the
transportation of ex-slaves off of a Plantation in S.C. I found that
there is a Dr. Evans Road in the area of Rice Hope Plantation. See
below:

Rice Hope Plantation - Moncks Corner, Berkeley County, South ...
Information about Rice Hope Plantation, including its location,
history, land, crops, owners, slaves, buildings, and current status.

Interestingly enough, the plantation was in the hands of a John
Harleston at one time.
