First, in the 1920 Lisle, Broome County, New York indices, Ellwood Radcliffe (E R) Goins, Nellie C his wife, their sons Isadore (7), Delmont (5), Alden (3) and Aylestock just born, are under a the surname Givens. Upon closer examination of the census, it appears the surname Goins was lost in translation.
I have Ellwood and Nellie's marriage record in Champaign Couny, Ohio 16 September 1910. This happened be after Ellwood is enumerated in the 1910 Jefferson County, Ohio census as single man.
He has a military draft card for for World War I wherein he states he is an ordained Minster of Gospel under Bishop Tyree. I believe the address of the A.M.E church and or his address 123 South Lockport in Niagara, New York. He again states that his wife is Nellie.
I am unable to find him in the 1930 New York Census though I have located his son Isadore, age 24 in the Elmira (Horseheads) New York directory.
I have scrubbed through Elmira, Chemung County and Lisle, Broome County, New York census a couple of times coming up empty.
Any suggestions?
