By 1870, my Margaret SPENCE is in Caddo Township, Clark County, Arkansas. There are white SPENCEs with Alabama roots there also, so perhaps your SPENCE went there too??

Margaret is the sister of my great-grandfather, Daniel Clayborn Gillette, who was "born in Talladega County, Alabama, but grew up in Arkansas." * They were each married in Clark County in 1866.
