I have been going back into my old records because I'm stuck, and have been trying to find cousins that decended from my gr grandma LUCY VANCE. Their grandparents would have been her nieces and nephews.
I am looking for Duncan SLATER and IDA MAY VANCE SLATER'S grandchildren and grgrandchildren's names.
I KNOW Duncan's daughter's name was Maryland Slater bn 1926 in Buncombe, NC. Maryland's mother was IDA MAY Vance Slater (warning this last name may have been spelled SLADER or SLUDER.) I found this on the NC 1930 census. I haven't been able to find any information on the 1940 or 1950 substitute census as to IF Maryland had siblings or..if she married.. what could possibly be her married name. These cousins would more than likely not have a clue about LUCY VANCE, since so much information seems to have been, lost when Lucy Vance bn 1852 SC moved to MS abt 1900 away from siblings still living in Johnston SC. My family had no idea about the SOUTH CAROLINA connection. All of the cousins I have ben able to trace seemed to mainly moved to Asheville, Buncombe NC by 1910.
JAMES VANCE bn 1868 father of the 1st bn cousins and IDA FULLER bn 1867 both in the state of SC and the baby brother of LUCY VANCE. The cousins I am looking for or his descendants( grand babies). I'd like to know if there is anyone on the East coast who may have cousins related to these people.
I must ask you to look at the NC census for IDA VANCE(James was deceased by then) to see the exact family grouping..it will be a little confusing. There was..
Duncan Slater Jr bn abt 1919
and in my family research I know and found 2 ANNIE VANCE of course born in 2 different states and one was definitely older. (I knew the older Annie Vance later married to a JACKSON)
So I am running around the census getting confused putting in information as I see it for each census year and a light bulb keeps flickering in my head..I've seen this name before. HELP ME OUT y'all.
