My wife was in Savannah earlier this fall and had the occasion to go to the Laurel Grove Cemetery in search of a lost great-grandfather. The gentleman she met at the Laurel Grove office, Mr. James Flowers, was most congenial and helpful in locating our family member in Laurel Grove South.
The records for Laurel Grove South are incomplete and many graves did not receive permanent markers, so finding someone there can test your patience. With Mr. Flowers's help, we turned up what seems to be her great-grandfather, who died in Savannah in 1916 and is apparently buried in an unmarked grave.
All the same, she appreciated Mr. Flowers's gracious assistance, and hopes that there are others here who can benefit. Mr. Flowers is the Cemeteries Services Coordinator for the City of Savannah's Department of Cemeteries.
